Roi Shillo's Summary
Roi has over 15 years experience in the technology field, he has initiated and lead ITCommunities, regional organization which operates in the Middle East and Africa to improve the collaboration and communication in civil society organizations. ITCommunities has representation in many countries and working widely to utilize better IT Solutions for local organization through training and empowering local individuals.
Roi achieved Bachelor’s degrees in Management and Computer Science and today he is studying for a Master degree specialize in technology tools and their effects on the learning environment and has been publishing academic articles about the way social networks effects social identification. He has been awarded twice as a Dean award.
Roi has been an entrepreneur for as long as he can remember. Management of innovative projects is his foremost hobby, as demonstrated by his favorite motto: “The greatest initiatives are those that contribute most significantly to the community”.
Empowering communities and utilizing IT Solutions for Global Challenges was always part of his vision and motivation and exactly the things he would like to do when he grows up.

Caught in the Net – The Influence of Social Network Sites on Social Identification with Informal Education Program

This study tested the influence of Social Network Site (e.g., Facebook) usage on social identification with informal education program. It was suggested that by using social network, the in-group identification becomes more central for the individual, regarding the educational program and the immediate group members. 607 participants of an after school educational youth program answered a questionnaire. The results confirmed that utilizing social network sites increased social identification.
